Fairfield Early Learning Centre

The Hive Early Learning Centre Fairfield provides high quality early childhood education and care for children aged 6 weeks to school aged. We are a 118-place centre over six large purpose-built rooms with beautifully natural indoor and outdoor play spaces.

At The Hive Fairfield, our philosophy is built around the concept that all children in our care receive the best level of care and learning possible. We do this by providing children with a warm, loving, nurturing and safe environment.

Our goal is to focus on each individual child and their needs. We believe in building a sense of home and community where our children will be encouraged to be brave, creative, resilient and kind.

Our spaces are designed to inspire curiosity and to help your child play and learn in a purposeful and meaningful way.

We are also committed to connecting children to their local community by providing regular excursions and incursions that will inspire conversations, extend  their knowledge and sense of fun. We strongly believe that these elements will help our children grow and provide a solid and smooth transition into primary school.

Through teamwork, dedication and a passion for early childhood education our team of educators will provide an environment where your child’s learning, development and wellbeing will be at the core of everything we do at The Hive Fairfield....

The Hive Fairfield Centre Philosophy

At The Hive Early Learning Centre Fairfield we invite each family to come and join us on a journey through discovery, learning and development. Through this journey we will show that the rights of the child are paramount. We show off these beliefs in each room as you will see self-expression through artwork, group times being lead and run-on children’s ideas and guidance and of course through many fun learning experiences.
We are committed to providing children with a safe secure and supportive environment in which the children, educators, and visitors all feel welcome and valued. We believe that each child has the right to grow, learn, and belong to their community regardless of cultural beliefs, gender, race, or background. You will see an image of your child, their words and voices are in our program, you will see their questions answered through learning experiences and most of all you will see that they’re valued for the amazing individuals they are.

The children are provided with a safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment full of kindness and compassion as we welcome families of all different cultures and backgrounds into our service. We believe that our environment is nurturing and will provide opportunities for the children to confidently learn and grow to be strong independent leaders of the future. We believe that all children grow and develop at their own pace and that we as educators should support and encourage learning and development individually with children’s interest, ideas and needs in mind.

We acknowledge and aim to provide an environment that is nurturing, supportive and provides cohesive relationships between the child’s home and care needs, we aim to provide continuity of care as well as an environment that supports children to succeed as they learn and grow. We understand that families are the first teachers of children and as early childhood educators it is our role to foster and extend this learning through our daily interactions and programs. It is not just a high level of respect we have for the children, as we also show respect and value parents and families as we support and invite them to offer feedback and input into our programming as well as inviting families to become part of our weekly excursions and group experiences.

One thing you will notice is how many open spaces and windows we have around the service; this supports how transparent and open we want to be to all families and the wider community. We endeavour to provide children with opportunities to engage in both natural and ‘man made’ materials as well as learning to take care of the environment around them, through the use of recycled and sustainable materials, as we see children as the future care takers of our world.

We believe in providing children with open ended experiences and materials as this foster’s creativity, expression and supports the extension of learnt skills and abilities to help and facilitate children to express themselves in a multitude of ways thus creating children who are confident and involved learners.

Critical Reflection informs our practice and is embedded by our program planning and by our educators and is key for us to identify areas where upskilling and improvement may be needed. We have these same high expectations for the children and our service providers as we dedicate a lot of time and effort to being the best that we can be. We aim to provide an environment where children can feel confident and safe to make decisions and choices, where their thoughts, feelings and ideas are encouraged and supported.

Along our journey through The Hive Fairfield, we would like to show our respect by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which The Hive Fairfield stands, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, we extend that respect to other Indigenous Australians past and present who may enter or be part of our service.

I have worked in the early childhood and care industry since 2013 where I completed my certificate III as a traineeship before moving on to complete my Diploma. I started working at The Hive Early Learning Centre Fairfield in 2020 as a Room Leader. With the incredible support and guidance from i9Education I then became the Centre Director in March 2021.
I am passionate about Early Childhood education and strive to support children in reaching their full potential.
I strongly believe in building respectful and trusting relationships with children and their families, utilising these as valuable tools for enhancing children’s growth and discovery as little people navigating a big world. Children are strong, capable and inquisitive of their own learning, engaging with them through interest based play and exploration of the environment are key to my values.
Collaboration between families, children, educators, staff, and management is a vital part of my philosophy, as we work together to achieve our goals and reach the best outcomes for your children.

Positive: Professionalism, Reliability, Responsiveness
We started at The Hive in Dec 2020 and my little boy loves going to childcare. The educators are caring, thoughtful and we get updated on how he is developing through daily learning charts. I love the learning program. The space is beautiful and lots of interactive toys. Very lucky to have this fantastic facility in our neighbourhood!

The Hive is amazing. The staff are wonderful and I trust them implicitly with our little girl who has been attending since before she turned one. It may not look as glitzy as some of the other ELC’s I the area but it is really all about the staff and their care for the kids.
Highly recommend.

We take sun protection very seriously at The Hive. Overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation causes wrinkles and skin and eye damage, ultimately leading to skin cancer.

UV cannot be seen or felt. It is not like the sun’s light which we see, or the sun’s warmth (infrared radiation) which we feel. Our senses cannot detect UV so it can be damaging without us knowing. There is a huge variation in UV levels across Australia. The UV level is affected by a number of factors including the time of day, time of year, cloud cover, altitude, proximity to the equator, scattering and reflection.

Take away the guesswork of the UV exposure each day by checking out the SunSmart UV widget. The widget shows the sun protection times closest to our centres location, making it easier than ever to be smart about your sun exposure all year.
