Our centre is conveniently located at 424 Ballarat Road North Sunshine, with convenient onsite undercover parking.

Our centre philosophy is influenced by Reggio Emilia, providing children with an environment that aids in their learning ‘through play’.  Children are encouraged to ask questions, explore, investigate and just be children, through positive interactions that evoke confidence in an environment that is nurturing.

My name is Christine Smith, better known as Chris.

I am very passionate about the children’s services sector and have worked in long day care as well as occasional care settings for 22 years. I have worked as a Diploma trained Educator and have directed Centres for the last 15 years.

My most recent role was Centre Director in Caroline Springs at a long day care and Kindergarten. I have worked in this Centre for 11 ½ years.

I look forward to sharing many years of experience and knowledge as a Director and will work extremely hard with the Educators and children to maintain high quality care and education.

We take sun protection very seriously at The Hive. Overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation causes wrinkles and skin and eye damage, ultimately leading to skin cancer.

UV cannot be seen or felt. It is not like the sun’s light which we see, or the sun’s warmth (infrared radiation) which we feel. Our senses cannot detect UV so it can be damaging without us knowing. There is a huge variation in UV levels across Australia. The UV level is affected by a number of factors including the time of day, time of year, cloud cover, altitude, proximity to the equator, scattering and reflection.

Take away the guesswork of the UV exposure each day by checking out the SunSmart UV widget. The widget shows the sun protection times closest to our centres location, making it easier than ever to be smart about your sun exposure all year.
