The Hive Torquay offers high quality Early Learning, Kindergarten and care for children from 6 weeks old to school age. The Hive Torquay is a short walk to beautiful Torquay Beach and the main shopping strip in Torquay.
The Hive Torquay is a 95 place centre with 5 rooms. Our nursery room ranges from 6 weeks to 12 months, our toddler one is a 1 to 2 years old room, our toddler two is a 2 to 3 year old room, we also offer a 3 year old program and a 4 year old Kindergarten program.
We are located at 78-80 Beach Road Torquay and are open from 6:30am to 6:30pm.
Our centre philosophy is inspired by Reggio Emilia, we provide a very ‘child friendly’ way of educating children, allowing them to just ‘be’ children and to enjoy their world surrounding them while also providing age appropriate educational programs that assist in learning and the development of the whole child. Our focus remains on positive physical, social, emotional, cognitive, creative and moral growth.
Hello, My Name is Michelle.
I am the Centre Director of the Hive Early Learning Centre Torquay. I have been at the Hive Torquay for the past few months and previously worked in a variety of roles from Centre manger, assistant director, and Room leader. I believe that Early Childhood is a very important time in the individual development of children and who they will become. Children are our future and my role as an educator is to support children to learn and grow in an environment that encourages self-expression, creativity and is safe and secure. My passion and goal as a centre director is to support the individual needs and requirements of each individual child and their families helping them to feel engaged, included and valued.
A little bit about me, I have over 23 yrs, experience in the Early childhood sector and it has been my passion during this time, I have 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls and we enjoy getting out and exploring the coastal community we live in.

The Hive is our daughters second home. We truly feel like part of an extended family and the care that Beck and all the educators show us on daily basis is absolutely wonderful. They know my daughter so well and we really feel like they care deeply about her development and wellbeing. The communication, care and engagement that they demonstrate is second to none. I have had two other children go through day care (now school aged) and I can honestly say I’ve never felt happier in entrusting my child in day care. Well Done to all of the educators and to Beck for her direction.

The Educators at The Hive Torquay are amazing. Having been at another centre with my son, I’m glad I’ve chosen The Hive. The Hive offers a unique experience for children and are always keeping me updated with what my son is up to. The director Beck is so friendly, approachable and it is evident she loves the children and families

Our two girls spent a short time with Beck and THELCT team and I honestly could not recommend a more engaging centre, who makes you feel like you are a part of their family. The personal touches of daily feedback of each individual child to make me feel more comfortable of their progress, to the daily snacks left at the front desk for parents by the chefs did not go unnoticed. Such a caring and supportive environment, Torquay community is lucky to have you all. Well done!

Beautiful centre with great educators and a director that really cares and engages with the children and families. Everyone at the Hive Torquay made us feel part of the community.
Our little one was cared for with a very personal approach and developed beautiful relationships with his educators.
We highly recommend it.

We take sun protection very seriously at The Hive. Overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation causes wrinkles and skin and eye damage, ultimately leading to skin cancer.
UV cannot be seen or felt. It is not like the sun’s light which we see, or the sun’s warmth (infrared radiation) which we feel. Our senses cannot detect UV so it can be damaging without us knowing. There is a huge variation in UV levels across Australia. The UV level is affected by a number of factors including the time of day, time of year, cloud cover, altitude, proximity to the equator, scattering and reflection.
Take away the guesswork of the UV exposure each day by checking out the SunSmart UV widget. The widget shows the sun protection times closest to our centres location, making it easier than ever to be smart about your sun exposure all year.
